Stack Letters into Syllables

Korean letters don't go in a line — they stack into little square blocks! It's like building with Lego. Hana will show you how! 🧩

Every syllable block has at least one consonant + one vowel. That's it! 🐱

The 3 Rules 📐

가
ㄱ + ㅏ

Consonant + Vertical Vowel

C + ㅏ/ㅓ/ㅣ etc.

When the vowel is vertical (like ㅏ), the consonant sits to its LEFT.

고
ㄱ + ㅗ

Consonant + Horizontal Vowel

C + ㅗ/ㅜ/ㅡ etc.

When the vowel is horizontal (like ㅗ), the consonant sits ABOVE it.

강
ㄱ + ㅏ + ㅇ

Add a Final Consonant (받침)

C + V + C

A third consonant can sit at the BOTTOM of the block. This is called 받침 (batchim).
